Santa in July

We went shopping today and got a huge surprise when we walked into the ice cream shop only to find Santa Claus sitting in the corner, not just any Santa but the "real" one!!! He is the same one who has come for years to the family Italian Christmas party!! Of course he remembered the kids, (why wouldn't he since he is the real Santa):) He took time out of his busy schedule to come and help collect food for the local Food Bank since they struggle so much during this time of year!! They were trading food donations for ice cream, the kids thought that was great:)

Days of 47 Parade

We got up bright and early to go to the Days of 47 Parade for the 1st time!! We have always watched it on television but I thought now that my kids are older it would be fun to actually be there!! We went with my mother-in-law and Aunt Marjie.
Carlie was so excited to see President Monson (the LDS Prophet) in person for the 1st time! It is so sad that it is so dangerous for him to be in public! You could barely see him through the heavily tinted windows!! The prophet used to be able to ride in a wagon or convertible so you could actually see them. No one else in the parade had anywhere near the security that he did. Carlie was still excited:)
Cayden's favorite float:) Were you really that surprised??
This would have been Lance's favorite if he didn't have to work:(
Carlie's favorite:) She says she is going to be a Pet Doctor when she grows up!! Maybe she can go work for Aunt Rachel!!
The weather couldn't have been better!! It was cloudy most of the time and even rained a couple times. Kept it from being the usual "hottest day in July" which we were happy about!!
It was so much fun, we can't wait for next year!! Anyone is welcome to join us:) Same time, same place (2nd E., 2nd S.), the perfect spot!!

Tour de Donut 2011

Today was the annual Tour de Donut!! Infinite Cycles raced as a team of 5 this year. They race 7 miles, eat donuts, race 7 miles, eat more donuts and then race the final 7 miles!! For every donut you eat you get 3 minutes deducted off of your time, eating donuts is a big deal!!
Waiting for the first lap
Lance ate a total of 10 donuts!!

Cayden played with his friend whose dad is also on the Infinite team. Future donut racers:)
Finished!!
Waiting for the results
Infinite Cycles dominated the race this year!! James took 1st place in his age division (he ate 18 donuts) and Lance took 3rd place with a total of 10 donuts!! It was based on final time and how many donuts they ate!
The kids were so excited because Lance got his 1st trophy!!
James won the coveted title of King Donut!! He ate the most donuts out of everyone with a total of 18!!
Infinite Cycles took 1st place for the team division (they had a combined total of 52 donuts eaten between all of them and 1 person didn't even eat any)!!!! It was a fun day and I am glad I am not the one who ate all of those donuts!!!!

Riverton Days

We went to the Riverton Days carnival and went on some of the rides Thursday night
The slide was Cayden's favorite, he went on it twice!
Carlie's favorite:)
Watched the parade Friday night and got lots of candy (the best part of course)!!
Saturday Lance and I rode in the Tour de Riverton (a 25 mile bike ride). This was the first bike race we have done together. It was a lot of fun!! Usually Lance does all of the bike races and the kids and I watch! This time thanks to Lance's parents we were both able to do it!!
Afterwards we enjoyed the Chuckwagon Breakfast!! Tonight we ended the Riverton Days with fireworks, until next year!!

In Memory.........

David Alan Thompson In Loving Memory David was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on October 1, 1956 to Harold and Helen Thompson. He spent his youth in Albuquerque until graduating from University of New Mexico with his Bachelors in electrical engineering. He moved to Tucson, AZ with IBM where he met Joan Silverman. They married in 1982 (later divorced) and settled in Ogden, UT where David began working for Iomega. He worked for 15 years, rising to the position of Director of Product Assurance, and participated on the Zip drive conceptualization team. With much success, in 1996 David was able to retire from Iomega and dedicate his time to his family and enjoying life. David was father to three children, Lauren, Craig and Jessica. He loved coaching and supporting his daughters in competitive and collegiate soccer, teaching his son all his handy-man skills, taking his family on ATV camping trips, and teaching them to race go-karts. David always had a burning desire to race and compete whether it was racing his motorcycle, Corvette, Ralt Super Vee, or, most recently, his bicycle. He was also very passionate about working in the garage on his "toys". His ability to solve problems and fix anything and everything was remarkable. In 2002 he met his current wife Alisa Hughes and the love of biking brought them together. At that time, he was also introduced to Alisa's daughters, Sumer and Shelby, with whom he was a supportive and loving step-father. David and Alisa married in 2007. They were truly lovers and did everything together from biking and hiking to traveling the world. David progressively became more involved in biking after moving to South Jordan with Alisa in 2006. He joined the Infinite Cycles race team and spent many hours with the guys. He was always smiling, offering positive encouragement, and teaching as many as he could. His last Criterion bicycle race was on June 29, 2011 in Salt Lake City where he suffered a fatal bicycle accident. David passed away on July 1, 2011 with his family by his side. David is survived by his mother, Helen, and his brothers and sister, Gary (Karen), Harold (Leilani McGranahan), and Linda Martin, his three children, Lauren (Russell) Tanner, Craig (Janalee) and Jessica, his wife, Alisa, and two step-daughters, Sumer and Shelby. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold and his brother-in-law, David Martin. David's wishes were not to have a funeral service but rather to have a celebration of his wonderful and exuberant life. A memorial bike ride will be held in Salt Lake City on August 13, and all friends and family are invited to join in celebrating his life. For more information about the bike ride visit: http://www.facebook.com/RememberDavid or http://www.infinitecycles.com/.
