While I tried to snowblow all of our snow this morning the kids made a snowman. The snow was so heavy I had to have our neighbor (thanks Tony) come help me put the snowman together!! I am not kidding, I cannot believe how heavy the snow was!! The kids had so much fun making their first snowman! We hoped for snow and now we are getting it!!

Christmas 2010
Usually Carlie has to wake up Cayden Christmas morning, not this year! Cayden woke up at 5:00 A.M. , ran downstairs and then ran in my room screaming "Santa came, Santa came!!" before running back downstairs. I went and got him hoping he would go back to sleep, luckily he did and the kids didn't wake up until 8:00:)
They were excited about their new Pillow Pets
Carlie was excited Santa brought her the Karaoke Machine she asked for!!
Cayden's new Dinosaur Train!! I hope that is enough trains now, I think that is #4 or #5!
I do not allow pictures to be taken of me in my pajama's, apparently Lance doesn't either since this is the only picture of us on Christmas!!!!
We went over to my parents later to make pizza's! Everyone wanted to do something different than the usual Christmas food. We cheated and brought a pre-made pizza....but we still had to bake it so that still counts:) We did an ornament exchange and played Christmas Bingo! Even Reggie came (Uncle Brandon and Aunt Rachel's dog) the kids thought that was fun! Everyone had a great Christmas!!

Christmas Eve
On Christmas Eve we get together with Lance's side of the family. We have dinner, the kids put on their new Christmas pajamas and then the kids dress up and we tell the Christmas Story. Afterwards the kids do a gift exchange with their cousins. It is total chaos with 11 cousins but the kids love it!! When we got home the kids got the treats ready for Santa and Carlie wrote a nice note:)"Dear Santa please eat my cookies and this is from the Gillis Family"
We were nice and put the egg nog on ice so Santa wouldn't get sick!!

It's Great to Be 8!!!
Today Carlie turned 8! This day seemed so far away 8 years ago when she was born and here it is!! We celebrated by going to the movie Yogi Bear and going to her favorite place to eat, Applebees. We decided to do something different this year and have ice cream sundaes instead of cake. It was a big hit!! Everyone loved being able to pick their own toppings (Carlie picked them all out) and make their own sundae. Carlie has been the most excited to turn 8 because that means she gets to be Baptised which just happens to be on New Years Day!! Happy Birthday Carlie!!

Italian Party 2010
Incredible Pizza!!
For Carlie's upcoming birthday we went to Incredible Pizza with a few of her friends!!
Everyone got to eat from a buffet of pizza, salad, hot dogs, fries, taco's, spaghetti, desserts..... (pretty much anything they wanted was there)!!
We played games, musical chairs and a slushee game where they had a contest to see who could eat the slushy the fastest (it was really hard because they kept getting brain freezes)!!:) We played a game of mini bowling and they each got tickets to play in the arcade.
Carlie's friend Ellie has the "magic touch" and helped Carlie win this in the arcade, thanks Ellie!!!!
Everyone had a lot of fun and Carlie was so glad her friends could all come!! Thanks everyone for making it such a fun Birthday Party!!:)

Twas the Night Before Christmas
Every Wednesday morning Carlie's school has an assembly where different classes "show what they know". Today Carlie's class recited by memory and in unison the poem, Twas the Night Before Christmas!! It is a really long poem, I don't know that I could memorize it:)
Twas the Night Before Christmas
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.
His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

Gingerbread Houses
We had some of my family over to make gingerbread houses. I took on the challenge of making the gingerbread! I am still trying to decide whether it is better to make it or just spend the money and buy a kit! It definately will be edible because I made it, but it was a lot of work especially since I was making enough for 5 houses!!!! We weren't lacking candy, everyone brought lots of candy to decorate!
I think Cayden liked eating the candy more than making the house:)
Brandon & Rachel
my parents and Aunt LuRhea
My Aunt LuRhea and Uncle Brent came and joined the fun too. Brent left the gingerbread making fun to LuRhea while he took a little nap:)
My sister Amelia has been keeping her gingerbread house making skills a secret!! She looked like a professional and made us all think about letting her make the houses next year and we will just watch and eat the candy!!!:)

Christmas Lights at Temple Square
Carlie was very excited to go see the statue of Jesus! I think that was the first time we have actually waited in the line to go see it, we usually just look through the window from the outside.
We rode the trax train downtown Saturday night to see the Christmas Lights. Cayden's favorite part is riding the train, of course!!
